Ep 10. What is trauma?

The term trauma gets thrown around a lot but what exactly is trauma? In this episode we explore three core concepts that define trauma.

This episode aims to provide a high level overview of trauma by explaining what it does to our brains and bodies and how common life experiences can cause trauma. Trauma is not just MAJOR events like war but can be caused by seemingly everyday experiences that are too much or by what we don’t experience that we really should have. If you’ve ever wondered if you’ve experienced trauma, this episode is for you.

This episode does not cover DSM diagnoses or complex neuroscience although it does discuss complex PTSD and how the brain changes at a high level. I’ll deep dive into the neuroscience and research another time!

Jaclyn Explores is hosted by Jaclyn Shea (she/her) a somatic coach, embodiment facilitator, science communicator, and health researcher.
