Somatic Therapies & Approaches
The word Somatics comes from the Greek root soma which means body, but specifically "the living organism in its wholeness." Somatics is a path, a methodology, a change theory, by which we can embody transformation.
In somatic work we prioritize your felt sense experience - what is happening in your body. We work with your body, rather than trying to fix or change it. We explore the wisdom within, even within trauma responses. We befriend your body, listen to, help meet its needs while going at a slow pace to not override your most scared parts.
In our somatic work I use a variety of somatic trauma resolution modalities to support you:
Alchemical Alignment
I call Alchemical Alignment ‘freeze whispering’ because its slow and steady approach is specifically designed for deep freeze, early timeline trauma (in womb and first two years of life), and ancestral trauma. We prioritize stability and expanding capacity for presence, small doable pieces of trauma processing, and slowly unwinding syndromal trauma patterns. This work is subtle but life changing for traumas that don’t seem to change.
Somatic Internal Family Systems / Somatic Parts Work
We all have inner worlds composed of different parts or sub-personalities. Some parts learn unhelpful or dysfunctional behaviors to try to shield us from pain and distress. Get to know your parts, their needs, & wants. Somatically meet their needs and resolve inner conflict. Learn to support your parts, help them come into the present moment, and experience less inner conflict between parts of you.
Mind Body Coaching
Get clear on what excites you and enlivens you, and be somatically supported in creating a life that feels good. Somatically meet, soften, and transform your roadblocks and unhelpful patterns. Through mindfulness and somatic practices, tune into your internal compass and unleash your full potential. Develop & leverage somatic awareness to guide you towards a life that is nourishing, regenerative, and fun.
Somatic Stress Release™ (SSR)
SSR facilitates processing current stress and past trauma through deepening bodily awareness, working with activated energy to release it, resourcing and restoring energy, cultivating resilience, and emotionally processing through the body. SSR is most similar to Somatic Experiencing and supports your body is metabolizing energy activated during acute stress or stuck from past trauma.
Process Oriented Unshaming Somatics
What if the trauma responses you want to get rid of are actually wise guides? In this work we unshame your body’s patterns by exploring the wisdom within and allowing that wisdom to unfold. For example, dissociation can be a way of leaving. What becomes possible when you can embody the part of you that knows how to leave. We explore the ways in which lack of loving witnessing contributed to trauma and help your body feel seen and validated. This work helps dissolve inner criticism and elevates self trust.
Evidence Based Somatic Practices
As a researcher I look to peer reviewed academic journals to understand what science shows us works to regulate our nervous systems, process trauma, calm down, and increase resilience. Practices including Emotional Freedom Technique aka EFT Tapping, various breathing practices, meditation practices, journal practices, and more.
How somatic coaching differs from therapy
Listen no judgement to therapists, but I managed to see five therapists who never brought up complex trauma even though I can now see I clearly had.
Don’t worry about sounding professional. Sounds like you. There are over 1.5 billion websites out there, but your story is what’s going to separate this one from the rest.
What working with me is like
We begin in the Intake Session by discussing and exploring your goals and desires for our work together. What are you hoping to accomplish, change, shed, learn, and step into? What are you dissatisfied with? What do you long for? This will orient our work together so I can best support you or we’re not a good fit.
Each session will include an arrival practice that helps you come into our container, shrug off at least part of the residue of your day, and help you drop into what we should focus on that day. Some sessions it’ll be clear. Others there may be nothing pressing and we’ll work towards your goals and desires we originally discussed.
From there we’ll do somatic practices to support you wherever you’re at. Maybe you’re activated and our goal is to help you move through that energy and process the underlying emotions. Maybe we’re filling up your cup energetically and somatically cultivating resilience. Maybe we’re expanding your sense of embodied possibility through EFT tapping. No two sessions are the same. Each one will meet you where your at through dialogue and somatic practices.

*I require a 4 session minimum once you decide to work with me following the intro session. This container gives us to time to develop our relationship and lets your nervous system orient to somatics work.
I offer my rates on a sliding scale based on The Green Bottle scale. I have a set number of open slots per price point. It is an honor system and I trust you to make the right decision for you and others. I also take into account geographical, cost of living, and regional income differences.

** Expendable Income might mean you are able to buy coffee or tea at a shop, go to the movies or a concert, buy new clothes, books, and similar items each month, etc.
